You may hear me or see me do a lot of jumping around. This is a cardio exercise called HITT. It stands for high intensity interval training where you are burning calories in less time with intense burst of exercises followed by short recovery periods. . These moves right here are 30 seconds with 10 seconds rest. You can repeat as many times as you want. I did a weight training for about 20 minutes and HITT for another 10 for 3 rounds. . I typically like to keep my HITT at 30 minutes or under. That’s a good place for me to burn my daily goal in calories burned and get the energy I need. A lot of the programs I do are like this by choice. I incorporate plyometrics, kinetics, weight and body strength, as well as Pilates and Yoga into my week. Which are all in the platform I use. I think mixing it up is the way to go. The workouts are easy to follow and I modify the moves when I need to. There are many types of exercises that will constitute as HITT like burpees, squat jumps, mountain climbers, planks and depending on where you are and if you have any health restrictions there is one for everyone based on level and intensity. Of course always warm up before each exercise and always stretch at the end of each workout. I also like to stretch a few minutes before my workout. . If you wanna make gains you should avoid cardio, right? Well no. Not exactly! Despite what you may see or read doing cardio won’t kill your gains in the gym. Granted some research shows it may limit muscle growth slightly. However this may be due to the fact you likely burn more calories by doing cardio and weights and therefore it’s harder to get in a calorie surplus to gain more muscle. Regardless the effect is fairly small. What you can do to mitigate this effect is: Some research points to doing cardio after weights being better if your priority is strength increase and vide versa for endurance. For even better results doing cardio and weights sessions on separate days or 6 hours plus apart (morning and evening sessions) being best for optimising both endurance and strength. For the average person I train doing concurrent training (doing strength training and cardio) is a good idea. This is because they are looking to gain a small amount of muscle and lose fat as well as staying healthy. Typically we will do steady state cardio or a HIIT session at the end of a session or they will do it on a separate day. What is Heart Rate Variability (HRV)? . . . Our heart beat is not regular like the ticking of clock beating once every second. A healthy heart beat is irregular (see the picture). This irregularity is desirable and an indicator of how ready the body is to adapt to stress. This stress could be bad like a fight with your boss or good like a promotion. When HRV is high, you can handle the incoming stress. When HRV is low you are less adaptable and less able to handle the stress. . . . HRV can be a measure of our autonomic nervous system and the balance between our parasympathetic and sympathetic branches. The parasympathetic branch is our “Rest & Digest” and correlates with a high HRV. The sympathetic branch is our “Fight or Flight” and correlates with a low HRV. . . . Heart Rate Variability is an indicator of the state of our health & fitness, recovery, and readiness. This makes it a valuable tool to monitor when exercising. A high HRV indicates a day to attempt that PR. A low HRV should lead to an active recovery day. Research correlates HRV to disease risk and progression, morbidity and mortality, biological age and health, physical performance, and mental cognition. Our favorite tool to monitor HRV is the @ouraring but you can also monitor yours with a heart rate monitor and various apps.

WEIGHT LOSS & FAT LOSS are NOT the SAME⁣ ⁣ ➡️When you start dieting & exercising you may lose WEIGHTS but not always FAT sometimes you lose MUSCLE ⁣ ⁣ ➡️Most look at the numbers on the scale as measurement that matters but it will not show fat loss & muscle loss neither will it show lean muscle gain. You can in fact become a SKINNY version of your FAT self .⁣ ⁣ ➡️Another mistake is people drastically increase cardio output and reduce calories(sometimes cutting out an entire food group. This can result in MUSCLE loss instead of FAT( again you lose weight look smaller in clothes but still carry a lot of FAT ⁣ ⁣ WHAT TO DO⁣ ✅Introduce RESISTANCE training as relying on cardio alone will not get you a lean tone body nor melt fat away combine CARDIO with HEAVY RESISTANCE training ⁣ ⁣ ✅Taylor your DIET.⁣ Diet is essential to WEIGHT & FAT loss but not eating enough food to fuel your body especially if doing endless cardio will have a negative impact on how your body reacts/stores and uses energy sources and can start burning muscle away instead of fat. Best bench press workout I've ever had yet! 😁 Power was finally there today and no arm pain either so I was able to smash some PR's! 😏 Got 2 sets of 10 135, set of 5 185 pause reps, set of 1 225 pause rep, set of 1 275 pause rep, set of 1 315 pause rep, set of 3 335 pause reps PR, set of 5 315 pause reps PR, set of 23 225 burnout AMRAP PR, and a set of 30 135 (20 fast, 10 slow pauses). 💪 So happy with this session! ☺This arm issue has been depressing so this workout totally made my day!
