🏋🏻‍♀️Swipe for last week’s workouts or maybe some of this week’s? Idk Lol🏋🏻‍♀️ ‼️YA’LL. I ACCIDENTALLY PUT 45 POUNDS ON THE BAR FOR MY BENCH PRESS THIS WEEK. HELP ME‼️ Lol but for real I am STOKED to put those big 45’s on the bar next week to *start out with*. Can’t even tell you how excited I am to do that. And like, I couldn’t fully lift it myself so I’ll be working on 45-47.5 for about 3-4 weeks but even being able to struggle with it is awesome for me. I never thought I’d have a chance to reach a 150 bench by the fall of this year. That’s crazy. 😁 . Anyway Unfortunately I didn’t have a great gym session today, but I got it done tho. I’ll also post the new routine soon. It’s a killer! For me at least. I might just skip posting this week and post next week’s workout on Friday. It’s more exercises than we were doing and geeezzzzz I’m pouring by the end of it. Which is good ‘cause I hate cardio but will trick myself into it with weights any chance I can get Lol . Chest day! And in case you didn’t notice, I had a little mishap with my leg. Hence the boot. But I’m not gonna let that stop me. That just means I gotta stick to upper body workouts for awhile. 🏋️‍♂️💪 Today’s workout was: 1. Bench Press: 4 x 1 min under tension 2. Incline Bench: 4 x 1 min under tension 3. Dips (somewhat weighted): 4 x max 4. Superset: upper and lower band crossovers 5. 3 sets of max pushups (not shown) Go slow on the down portion (eccentric) for each rep. I have been training with the push/pull routine for a couple years now and personally I love it! Maybe you train with the whole body splits or push/pull body splits but either way, here are some tips for you to decide which one is better suited for you: 😺The traditional aka the bodybuilder groups body parts into different training sessions. This allows you to focus on each body part more with greater volume. Also, it is a great way to increase your hypertrophic potential by switching up the routine especially if you are used to training total body days. However, the drawback is that your muscles might not be fully recovered to train multi-joint moves from the previous workouts eg. If you bench for arms after a day of benching for chest the previous day, you will still be sore. ☠ 😺The push-pull day, on the other hand, categorizes training based on movement patterns. This allows you to train at a higher frequency which means you can practice more of each movement patterns which allows you to make more gains💪 like perfecting the squat form! Also, science has shown that training synergistic muscles together (as in push pull days) reduces neural stress/acute loading effect in training subjects (Castanheira et al 2017). However, the drawback is that you won't be able to train and prioritize a muscle group solely if it is lacking behind others. 🧐 🥰After all, there is no one perfect training splits. It is more about sticking to what fits your lifestyle and goals on a consistent basis! Happy Tuesday fam!💖
