💥THE BEST POST-WORKOUT MEALS💥 Have you wondered what is the best thing to eat after a hard workout? Is it running to pound a protein shake? Eating a stack of flap jacks? Or a bowl of oat meal? - See the answer is fairly straight forward, but requires a little explaining first. - See during a workout you'e using stored energy (glycogen), and damaging muscle fibers by working those various muscle groups. - So after a workout you want to replenish your muscle glycogen stores,decrease protein breakdown, and increase protein synthesis (muscle repair and rebuilding). - See protein synthesis occurs when your body has more protein available to it then amount of protein and muscle breakdown that occurred during the workout. This is why it is important to have an adequate post workout meal to satisfy this important muscle building principle. - By making sure your post workout nutrition is on point you set the stage for good recovery, and the optimal environment for muscle growth. - So this means that you need to be taking in quality protein (to support protein synthesis) and carbohydrates(to replenish muscle glycogen) after your workout to create this environment. - Does this mean you have to consume a giant meal immediately after your workout? No, but having a good sized, quality meal, within a couple hours after training would definitely be beneficial. - Immediately after your workout you can consume a post workout beverage (shake) or meal that contains 20g of protein (studies have shown that 20g may be all you need to maximize protein synthesis) and 40g of carbohydrate. This can look like some protein powder and some banana blended up in a shake for example. My 45 min cardio days are also my 1000 cal burned workout days which is primarily endurance work (75-100+ reps of a given exercise moderate weights/body weight). It typically takes me 2.5 hours to burn 1000. I get to that 800 mark and the rest takes forever. . Today I set out to hit 1000 under 2 hours. I did it a couple times in the last few months. The goal was to finish out the 2 hours even if I hit it though. I landed slightly over 1100. . Here’s a few exercises from today. Working on these recordings lol... Yeah Yeah my angles are blah. Spotlight on fabulous women week 3! I have known this exceptional ball of energy @nic_buchanan since our girls started prep together too many years ago to mention! This is not the easiest #transformationtuesday picture to post. This photo was me at my heaviest weight, it was about 4.5 years ago and I only weighed 135lbs but it hit me hard. It was right after being in a car accident that made it hard to move, my diet at the time was the worst it's ever been, and I didn't have any reason to change or try to fix it. When I finally lost all the weight it was mostly from going to the gym (after my back healed) and radically changing my diet. Soon after getting to a normal weight is when I got extremely sick and couldn't keep any weight on (talk about drastic changes). I am happy to finally be at a healthy happy medium and growing in the proper ways. My other why....I love and miss this beautiful woman so very much. . The days I feel like quitting....like I want to give up, I often think of my Mom. I think of how proud of me she would be. She knew I struggled with my weight for awhile after I had my kids but always told me I was beautiful. And although we have tons of great memories I often think of how unfair it is that she was taken so early, with so much life left to live. . I remind myself that the journey I am on has little to do with a number on the scale and everything to do with my health. While tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us, I am doing my part to live a healthier lifestyle to try and prolong it. To eat better food so I’m not at risk for heart disease and things I can help control. My family deserves that. . So when you feel like quitting....I urge you to dig deeper. And remember why you are doing what you are doing in the first place. Because if you don’t have a strong why....you better not have strong excuses. They’ll swallow you up! . Also...I think the older I get the more I look like her. ❤️

Okay is running anyone else’s least favorite exercise? 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ ⠀ ⠀ I cannot tell you all how much running is my least favorite exercise. I get bored so easily and then just get tired. However, I know running is really good exercise to get your heart rate up! So knowing that it’s still good for me I would try it again and again. I even ran a 5k once, but the entire time I was dying throughout it. (Promise no one was hurt in the making of this photo) ⠀ ⠀ Fast forward in time to now when I don’t run but man do I get my heart pumping when I workout. I feel like I get more sweat from my workouts now than I did when I tried to force myself to run. ⠀ ⠀ But ladies here’s the thing. You shouldn’t have to hate working out. It shouldn’t be a piece of cake but it sure doesn’t have to be painful to do! ⠀ ⠀ In this way I’m thankful I joined my first challenge group. I realized there were more exercises that could work as cardio but I don’t have to run. I realized that working out, while yes at times I’m not motivated to do, is my favorite part of my day. ⠀ ⠀ So ladies, try new things. Be open-minded to new experiences. You are going to learn more about yourself than you ever realized you would if you just believed that you could do something! 🤷🏼‍♀️🙌🏻❤️

Si no tienes aceite de coco puedes usar de oliva y si no tienes harina de almendras puedes sustituir por avena Brownies 🤤🍫 ❣️1 plátano ❣️2 huevos ❣️1 cucharada de aceite de coco ❣️50 ml leche de almendras ❣️1/2 taza de harina de avena (avena licuada) ❣️1/4 taza harina de almendras ❣️1/4 taza de cocoa ❣️Stevia al gusto ❣️Trozos de chocolate sin azúcar o >70% cacao ❣️1 puño de nueces picadas Mezclar todo en un bowl con ayuda de un batidor y listo poner en un refractario para horno. Hornear por 15-20 minutos o hasta que metas un palillo o cuchillo y salga limpio.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone 💕 - let’s do a throwback because I have to keep myself distracted lol my eyes can’t be looking at the road ( I’m currently going on an adventure) my husband driving gets me car sick 😷 the way he drive is like being on a movie from fast and furious 😂 - anyway can’t believe that I’ve been on this fitness journey for two years now, & it’s been a roller coaster ride. 😩 also it’s going to be a year since I got my tummy tuck , & I’m so glad that I have managed to keep my weight stable . I think that’s one of hardest because I’m lifting weights & the first thing on my mind is “oh I’m going to gain weight “ but surprisingly I haven’t which is good I guess. 🤷🏽‍♀️ - I remember back than I would have in my closet is just black clothing to hide the way I look .
