? Wildlife print cushions & linens My designs, my 1837 cottage & glimpses of 3 Spanish rescue cats & 1 Swedish rescue husband ☆ DM for discount ☆
Lots of warmth and happy Sunday vibes to my new followers 💖 Here is a Wintry picture of me, the woman behind Fauna Home . I've been running my business for almost 2 years now and love designing homeware that's kind to the planet, humans and animals 🌿 I use organic kapok to fill my cushions, inserts, seat pads and pet beds after researching a luxurious yet eco-friendly alternative to feathers or polyester microfibre. I only use natural fibre fabrics such as cotton and linen and I never use glues or anything chemically-treated or toxic. This way we are all safer from carcinogens and allergens, and no animals are harmed in production 🐇🦆🐬 I am 35, step-mum to one beautiful 17 year old daughter, and married to a Swedish bearded IT whizz. We're animal lovers, vegan and live in the countryside. We have 3 crazy Spanish rescue cats with special medical needs and we live in a tiny 1837 yellow-brick cottage. I mostly make cushions, seat pads, pet beds and table linens but also do special items such as pumpkins in Autumn and stockings at Christmas. Going forward I'm getting into free motion embroidery and appliqué, to make hoop art and bed runners or perhaps mini quilts. I have several new fabrics coming in next week! If you ever have any questions or a custom request I'm always delighted to receive a DM and I can help you make colour and print choices that reflect your personality and match your home decor. Happy Caturday! 😻
🍽️ I've always had a thing for mismatched crockery. I don't have a single matching plate, bowl or cup. My glasses match though, for some reason glassware is out of bounds on the mix 'n' match front 🤔 I pick almost everything up from charity shops or antiques centres. I love how this dinner plate sets off the side plate. Perfect for dinner parties or afternoon tea 💖 Anyone else have a thing for mismatched crockery?
I should be hard at work today and tomorrow but due to a delay in one particular supply I can't make anything! So it's a couple of days of domesticity...visit #battlesbridgeantiques for another chair to match our new marble top bistro table which is coming next week (we just don't want to keep eating on our laps all the time), then the food shop and then some reorganisation of cupboards...might also make holiday plans for June! Have a great day! 🌞
I'm back! What a glorious break 😁 The shop is back open, website and Etsy are available. I'm working on some new items as we're already looking toward Spring 🐇🐑 Here's a little scroll through of some snippets of my life over the last couple of weeks since I posted. Happy 2019! 🌱
I put up the decorations today! 🎄 We tried to find a real tree this year as I've never had one before but everywhere has been sold out! So old faithful made his way out of the shed again...but doesn't he look handsome? 😁 Head to my stories to see more
Happy Sunday morning 😊 this winter weather has us cuddling up together 💖
I'm having a wonderful slow day 💜💙💜 This morning I went to @thecheapshoptiptree to buy beautiful fabrics and buttons and beads...oooh a new project is calling my name! One for children or those who enjoy a little magic 💖 This afternoon I've been writing Christmas cards...so many cards! Don't you always find that writing Christmas cards takes longer than you anticipate? 😄 But check out these stunning beauties by @katiecravenuk (pictured). This particular one is for my dear old friend Nora. To top it all off I found vegan pizza in @tescofood frozen section so tonight will be relaxed and cosy too. How is your Friday going?
Though my order book is now closed for the year, I'm happy to sell any pet beds/floor cushions already made up. Such as this William Morris Strawberry Thief one with cotton velvet backing. I also have a grey stripe with William Morris brer rabbit (swipe), Morriswood, ethnic feather print and then two medium dog beds/large floor cushions, one in batik indigo and one in the Safari fabric. I can offer a 10% discount on any of these items and they will be with you in two days (UK). As always, they are made with natural materials and filled with organic kapok. Sustainable, non-toxic and cruelty-free 💕

Today on #meetthemaker it's 'What else do you make?' Well lots of things, which you can see all throughout my grid and website. But this week I've been making special Christmas stock, including some one off designs such as these mini stockings! I don't know how I'm going to part with them as they're so cute! They are perfect for small gifts, as tree decorations, pet stockings or to hang filled with candy canes! Swipe to see a few of the designs. These will be sold at the Braintree Christmas Fair on the 8th, along with many other small gifts and homeware you won't find on my website 😮
Today's #meetthemaker theme is 'Detail' which seems fitting for my William Morris range as his designs are so beautifully intricate. I've chosen to feature Brer Rabbit as I've had 2 orders this evening. I love the monotone navy colour of this 1882 design, and from a distance this crisp design blends into an interior without screaming 'look at me!' but when you get up close you see the wildlife and flowers and acorns that make up the wonderful pattern. It is very special and slightly magical 💙💖💙
Day 3 of #meetthemakerweek is 'The Making Process' of my William Morris range. I make many different products from several Morris fabrics, but the design process is similar each time: 😲 Discover a stunning fabric 😃 Get excited ✏️ Draw a basic design from my mind's eye ✂️ Make a prototype. I often use calico (unrefined cotton) when making a very new product. Once I'm happy with that I'll make the real thing and photograph it. I add it to my website and my Etsy shop with descriptions and price it according to: cost of materials, time it takes to make and profit margin. When designing a new product I always take into account: ✓Practical use ✓How hard wearing it is in relation to how it will be used ✓How it can be washed ✓How teaming fabrics with respond to each other ✓How well the item will age, in practicality and style ✓How it can be sent, in the UK and abroad ✓Cost to customer ✓If it represents my brand So as you can see, it's a deep process but mainly I make beautiful things that I would have in my own house! 💐 I love teaming Morris fabrics with navy cotton velvet, seen here in the photo. It's so special because it feels so luxurious but is a totally natural fibre, unlike standard velvet which is always made from polyester, a type of plastic. If you want to know exactly how I make my products and you'd like to get more into sewing yourself then look out for my courses I'll be doing in the Spring! 😃
