London, wildlife, flowers, vegetables, my allotment star in most of my photos. Oh, and cats, possibly, sometimes, oftentimes
I’ve been puzzling over what to grow up the rear wall of our garden. It looks so bare at the moment but the idea is to have some flowers covering the brick and acting as a backdrop to all the other flowers that’ll be in the beds nearer the house. I’ve gone for a red rambling rose as I prefer the smaller flowers of a rambler over the larger ones of a climber. And today I found a dark red sweetpea I’m going to grow with it. I’m also on the hunt for something with limegreen flowers to grow there too. So excited! 🌹🌷🌺🌼🌸 . . . #flowers #flowerstagram #growing #garden #gardening #urbangardening #winterspring #roses #sweetpea
Loved the “Good Grief, Charlie Brown” exhibition at Somerset House today. Special affinity with Lucy Van Pelt, clearly. And really wish I’d managed to coincide with @looseebee who was also there today, it turns out. All my best Lucies! The black character, Franklin, first appeared in the strip in July 1968, just a few months after Martin Luther King’s assassination. There was a fascinating series of letters to and from Charles Schulz about whether the introduction of a black character would be patronising or not. Hopefully you can see the letter I took a photo of from a black parent explaining what it would mean to his kids ❤️

What a beautiful day! Time to walk over to one of my favourite corners of London, the Chelsea Physic Garden, to have a look at some snowdrops and warm in the greenhouses. . . #garden #gardening #urbangarden #londongardens #gardensofinstagram
London’s looking mighty pretty this morning. Here are some views from my walk to work this morning. I love that there are still community funded drinking fountains and cattle troughs all over London. Originally funded by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association. They’re now mainly used as planters. But gradually new water fountains are coming back as we’ve woken up to the fact that single use plastic is a really stupid idea.
Garden pretty much done. Plan is to cover over the new soil to ward off cat poo until Feb/Mar when it’ll be warm enough to plant stuff. We’ve had a plug socket installed outside and the electrician couldn’t work out why we wanted to install a kitchen in the garden. He didn’t really understand the idea of a potting bench . . #urbangarden #urbangardening #londongardens #landscapedesign
